THE 2010 CENSUS: IT’S IN OUR HANDS!
The Census is taken every 10 years. It is a count of everyone residing in the United States. The Census determines how many seats each state will have in the U.S. House of Representatives as well as the boundaries of legislative districts.
Quick Facts:
Q: What does the Census do for the Village of North Riverside, and how does it affect me?
A: It's important that everyone in North Riverside gets counted because any shared funding we get from the state or federal government is done per capita; meaning per the number of residents we have.
For example: if we get $25 per resident in Motor Fuel Tax, the money we use to pave of streets, and the 2010 Census is lets say 500 people down from the year 2000 we loose $12,500. So if Residents refuse to answer the 2010 Census questionnaire, we will loose money. There is a large number of state & federal shared revenue income that all would be affected by a bad count.
