North Riverside Day / Open House

Generally held on the Third Sunday in September, the fire department, in conjunction with the Village, provides an open house during North Riverside Day. Some of the activities include:

• Fire Safety Trailer
• Freddy The Fire Truck
• Mack The 8-Foot Dalmatian
• Live Vehicle Fire Demonstration
• Balloons and Fun for All

Santa Run

Every year on the Saturday before Christmas, Santa makes his way through North Riverside on the fire truck delivering treat bags to all the good boys and girls. Since the 1940's , fire department has, in conjunction with the Village, the North Riverside Firefighters Local 2714, and the Firefighter's Association, delivered over 500 treat bags each year. Santa usually makes about 10 stops throughout the Village, ending at the Scottish Home to visit residents there. Please watch the village newsletter for exact times and locations for Santa stops.
