The Village of North Riverside provides Lake Michigan water to all residents, multi-family and commercial properties located within the Village’s corporate limits. The Village’s water supply is purchased through the Brookfield-North Riverside Water Commission.
The Village is divided into 3 separate water zones for billing purposes. Click the link below to find out which zone you are in. Water bills are issued every three months or four times a year. Water bills are due by the 20th of the month.
The majority of meter readings taken by the Village’s Public Works Department occur from a meter that is located on the outside of the building. This meter is directly tied to the meter located on the inside of the building at the property’s main water line connection point. All outside meter reading are subject to verification and change based upon the inside meter. In the event of a discrepancy between the inside and outside meters, the inside meter reading will prevail. Property owners are asked to read both meters at least once a year and to report any discrepancies to the Water Billing Division as soon as possible.
In addition, property owners are asked to keep access to both the inside and outside water meters clear of any obstruction at all times for reading and inspection purposes. Tampering or removal of water meters is illegal.
Prior to moving, please notify the Water Billing Division to make arrangements for your inside water meter to be read for the final time. A pre-sale inspection will not be performed until a final water read has been scheduled or conducted. All final outside meter readings are subject to revision based upon the inside reading when conducted.
