The North Riverside Fire Department provides emergency services to the Village, which encompasses approximately 2 1/2 square miles and a resident population of 6600 people. Because of the large commercial shopping districts, including North Riverside Park Mall, it is estimated that the fire department protects over 75,000 people during peak shopping periods.

The North Riverside Fire Department is an ISO class 2 rated department. This rating was achieved in 1994 at which time North Riverside was one of only seventy-one fire departments nationwide to receive an ISO rating of 2.

North Riverside operates out of one main station located at 2331 S. Desplaines. Always on call for emergencies, the department is an organization of 18 professional firefighters and 6 contracted paramedics, each doing their part to protect and serve you, the residents of our Village. Services provided include fire suppression, advanced life support/paramedic services, hazardous materials mitigation, Technical Rescue, inspectional services and various public fire safety education programs. North Riverside is a member of MABAS Division 11, which is comprised of the following departments: Berwyn, Forest Park, Cicero, Oak Park, River Forest and Stickney.
                                                  

Mission Statement

The North Riverside Fire Department will proudly provide the highest quality of emergency services to the residence and visitors of the Village.  We shall strive for excellence in the performance of our duty through training, education and a willingness to continually improve ourselves.  The department will be ever vigilant in promoting awareness of fire hazards and in education our citizens of all ages.  This shall be accomplished through proper utilization of resources and administering in a fiscally responsible manner.
