The North Riverside Police Department provides 24-hour services and protection in an area encompassing approximately 2.5 square miles, including a large retail shopping area. The department provides uniformed patrol service, investigative and youth services, and general services to the community. Some of these service programs are the D.A.R.E. (Drug Awareness Resistance Education) Program, Neighborhood Watch, Child Safety Seat Inspection/Installation Program, and the Vacation House Watch Program.

The North Riverside Police Department currently employs 28 sworn officers, 9 full-time civilian employees and 20 part-time civilian employees. The department structure for sworn personnel includes the Chief of Police, Deputy Chief of Police, 2 Lieutenants, 6 Sergeants, 2 Detectives and 16 Patrol Officers. Our civilian staff is comprised of an Administrative Assistant, Telecommunications Supervisor, Records Clerk, 6 full-time Telecommunicators, 5 part-time Telecommunicators, 3 part-time Crossing Guards and 12 part-time Community Service Officers.

The mission of the North Riverside Police Department is to provide essential services, preserve peace and order, reduce the occurrence and impact of crime, facilitate traffic safety and protect the constitutional rights of all persons. In support of this mission, we strive to work closely with the community in order to enhance the safety of its citizens and provide the highest level of service.
