In the fall, around peak demands in water usage, the Public Works Department flushes every fire hydrant within the Village at full pressure. Every resident in the Village will be notified by “Hydrant Flushing” signs that are placed around the area. We ask that you allow your cold water to run in the morning for a couple of minutes. The water is very safe to drink, but at times may discolor due to heavy flushing. We flush hydrants for the following reasons:
* To insure that every fire hydrant works properly for fire protection
* To establish better water quality
* To exercise and lubricate all moving parts
Every resident in the Village will be notified by “Hydrant Flushing” signs that are placed around the area as well as notification posted on the Village’s website.
