In the fall, Public Works will be gearing up for leaf pickup. This program is for leaves that naturally fall into the roadway. Mayor Krochmal and the Village Board have allowed the purchase of yard waste bags that have been delivered to every home in the Village. This is to provide extra yard waste container space. If you need additional bags, extra are stored at the Public Works Department. Stock piling of leaves is not allowed in the street for the following reasons:

   * The piles of leaves take away from parking
   * Leaves are not illuminated, so when kids play in them, their safety is at risk
   * Leaves can clog the sewer system, causing flooding
   * If dry, leaves can burn easily, presenting a fire hazard
