SNOW REMOVAL

An integral part of dealing with snow is street salting. The trained professionals in Public Works attack main roadways first to keep traffic moving quickly and safely.

North Riverside Public Works is responsible for these main roadways:

   * Desplaines Avenue (31st to Cermak)

   * 26th Street (Harlem to 17th Avenue)

   * 31st Street (DesPlaines to 1st Avenue)

Cook County and I.D.O.T. is responsible for the following roadways:

   * Harlem Avenue

   * 1st Avenue

   * 17th Avenue

Once the main roadways have been cleared the trucks split up and start on the East/West streets followed by the North/South streets. Then, the alleys and perimeter walkways are plowed.

In a snowfall of greater than 2 inches, please move vehicles off the street to allow curb-to-curb cleaning. The crews are dispatched as soon as the weather occurs, and stay for the entire duration.

When shoveling snow from your driveways or alley aprons,

do not push snow back into the street or alley.

When the storm ends, the crews continue to monitor all Village streets for icy spots and areas where winds have re-deposited snow into traffic lanes. Catch basins will also be cleared so melting snow has a place to drain.

SEGUINS SNOW REMOVAL SERVICES FOR SENIORS

The Village has contracted Sequin Services to administer snow removal services to our residents for all snowfalls of 2" or more at a reasonable cost. This program is for seniors 65 and older, disabled residents and residents with a medical condition, which would prevent them from removing snow.

If you would like more information about this program or to sign-up, please stop by or call our Administration office during regular business hours at 708-447-4211.
