CALL JULIE (811) BEFORE YOU DIG!
You may be surprised by what’s buried in your yard! Today, more and more companies are delivering power, gas, water and telecommunication services to your home or business through underground utility services. To avoid damaging those lines, state law requires you to call JULIE (811 or 800-892-0123) before any digging project, regardless of the project size or depth.
JULIE (Joint Utility Locating and Information for Excavators) is a not-for-profit corporation message handling service that provides homeowners, contractors, excavators, and anyone else who may be disturbing the earth, with a free service number to call for the locating and marking of underground utility and facilities. The Village of North Riverside is a member of the JULIE System.
JULIE operators are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The call and services are completely FREE. After you call a JULIE operator, they’ll alert member utility companies for your plans to dig so they can come out and mark their underground lines at your site. Please place your call at least 2 working days in advance of your expected project date. For more information, you can visit www.illinois1call.com You’ll know who was there by their color coded flags, stakes or paint:
Remember to call J.U.L.I.E. any time you dig around your property. The number is 1-800-892-0123. If you dig without calling and damage ANY underground utility you are held responsible for the repair. Allow 2 business days for all utilities to mark.
